Also, of concern to many is that bamboo bath towels are made from fabric that is imported so there is a huge carbon footprint and a whole collection of chemicals are needed to break down bamboo fibers and make them pliable enough to make towels. Some experts say that the plus side of using bamboo fiber towels does usually out weigh the down side.  This is open for debate and the situation is changing as more environmentally conscious companies enter the market.
